Mission
Pursuant to the Commissions of Inquiry Act 1935, this Commission of Inquiry was established on 31st October 2019 by the Premier, the Honourable E. David Burt JP MP.
The Commission has been directed to inquire into historic losses of citizens’ property in Bermuda, in keeping with the mandate of the House of Assembly as expressed in its Resolution of 4th July 2014.

Justice Norma Wade-Miller

The Hon. Mrs. Norma Wade-Miller JP OBE was appointed as Chair of the Commission of Inquiry into Historic Land Losses by Premier, the Hon. E. David Burt in 2019.
Justice Wade-Miller JP is a retired Puisne Judge of the Supreme Court of Bermuda. In the 2017 Queen’s New Year’s Honours List, Justice Wade-Miller was appointed as Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) for her decades of service to Bermuda and its legal community and judiciary. Justice Wade-Miller was the first woman in Bermuda to be appointed as a substantive magistrate, then as a high court judge. She was also Bermuda’s first female Acting Chief Justice.
